PORTAL PLG
Portal PLG solves this with several new capabilities:

- Instant registration and activation.Upon signing up, an Organization is automatically created with its first Client and a ready-to-use Sandbox environment, with no need to wait for anyone's approval.
- API Playground.A built-in space in the portal to connect test wearables and see normalized data arriving in real time, designed so a developer can validate the integration with real data in hours, not weeks.
- Organization and Client structure.A single Organization can group up to 3 independent Clients, useful for companies with multiple products or business units, each with its own plan, its own add-ons, and its own Sandbox and Production credentials.
- Members with real roles. The account owner can invite their team with different access levels (Owner, Co-owner, Admin, Editor, Read Only), separating who can touch technical configuration from who can view or manage payments and contracts.
- Self-serve plan and add-on purchasing. From the portal, with no calls or manual contracts, the client chooses their plan (Early, Core, Core+, or Business), activates add-ons like Notifications Webhook, ROOKScore, and pays by card, all reflected in their environment within seconds.
- Frictionless transition to Production. When the client is ready, moving from Sandbox to Production is an action within the same portal, not a separate process requiring ROOK's intervention.
"Our product was always good once a client got to try it. The problem was everything that happened before: coordinating access, waiting for responses, losing momentum," said a ROOK Product spokesperson. "Portal PLG eliminates that wait. The developer comes in, tests, and decides with real data in hand, not with a demo promise."
Portal PLG is available with plans starting at US$100/month (Early plan, up to 10 active users) up to Business (US$1,999/month, up to 15,000 active users), with the option to scale to a negotiated Enterprise plan for higher-volume accounts. All self-serve plans include both environments, Sandbox and Production, from day one.
To get started, development teams can register directly on the ROOK portal and have their first wearable data connected within minutes.
FAQ
- What is Portal PLG and how is it different from how things worked before?Previously, evaluating or contracting ROOK required going through a sales representative to obtain access and credentials. Portal PLG is a 100% self-serve flow: you sign up, automatically get a Sandbox environment, and can connect devices, invite your team, and activate features without talking to anyone at ROOK, unless you choose to.
- How long does it take to see real data after signing up?The goal is under 3 hours from registration to the first data arriving in the portal, using the SDK Playground to connect a test wearable and see normalized data in real time.
- What is the API Playground and what is it for? It's a space within the portal where you can connect a test device and see, live, how ROOK normalizes and delivers data, without writing a full integration first. It's designed to help you validate whether ROOK fits your use case before investing real development time.
- Do I need a credit card to get started? No. Registration and Sandbox use during the free trial don't require a payment method. A card is only requested when activating a paid plan or moving to Production
- What happens when my trial period ends? You can activate a paid plan directly from the portal (Early, Core, Core+, or Business). If your volume or needs exceed these plans, the portal directs you to a conversation with Sales for an Enterprise plan.
- Can I add additional features without renegotiating my contract?Yes. Add-ons (e.g., Notifications Webhook, ROOKScore, Granular data) are activated and deactivated from the portal without human intervention, and reflect in your environment within seconds.
- Can I change plans later if my needs grow or shrink?Yes. Plan changes on a monthly cycle are self-serve, directly from the portal. If your billing cycle is quarterly, semi-annual, or annual, the change goes through Support to calculate the corresponding credit before applying it.
- My company manages more than one product — do I need a separate account for each? Not necessarily. A single Organization can group up to 3 independent Clients, each with its own plan, its own add-ons, and its own Sandbox and Production credentials, useful if you operate different products or business units under the same company.
- Can I invite other people from my team to the account?Yes. From the Members module you can invite your team with different access levels: Owner, Co-owner, Admin, Editor, or Read Only, depending on how involved they are in technical configuration or in payments and contracts. Not everyone needs the same access level to collaborate.
- If I invite someone as Editor or Read Only, what can and can't they do?Editor and Read Only have operational access (dashboard, configuration, products) but can never view or touch Members, Plans, Payments, or legal documents — those areas are reserved for Owner, Co-owner, and, in some cases, Admin.
- Are my data and my end users' data safe during the trial?Yes. Sandbox and Production are separate environments with their own credentials, but both follow the same security and compliance standards — Sandbox is not a "relaxed" version in terms of security, just an isolated space for testing.
- How do I move from Sandbox to Production when I'm ready?Directly from the portal, with no need to open a ticket or wait for someone at ROOK to enable the environment. It's part of the same plan-purchasing flow. At this point, remember there are two important factors:
- Purchasing a plan
- Signing the contracts in the Legal module.
13.
If my company already has a plan negotiated with the Sales team, does this change affect me?
No. Accounts with a contract negotiated directly with Sales keep their own billing and change process, managed by their account executive. Portal PLG is the additional self-serve path, not a mandatory replacement for those who already have a special agreement.- What happens if I need help during the process, even though it's self-serve?The portal includes Support contact points for cases that require it — plan changes with long cycles, technical SDK Playground questions, or any situation that isn't resolved with a toggle. Self-serve is the default option, not the only one.
- How much does it cost to get started and what does each plan include?Self-serve plans range from US$100/month (Early, up to 10 active users) to US$1,999/month (Business, up to 15,000 active users), all with access to both environments from day one. If your volume exceeds these ranges, the portal connects you with Sales to define a custom Enterprise plan.
